THE MOREAU HORRORS
Saints and Poets November 2012 production of The Moreau Horrors represented our first foray into producing an original musical as well as our first Kickstarter campaign.
Based upon H.G. Wells’ 1896 science fiction classic The Island of Doctor Moreau and written and directed by Burlington artist Seth Jarvis, The Moreau Horrors combined live actors and musicians, puppetry, film and songs by Adam Cooper Wood and Nathan Jarvis. This irreverent adaptation re-imagines Wells’ novel through a lens of classic Pre-Code horror films and Roger Corman schlock.
“It has been incredibly enjoyable to watch as Adam Cooper Wood and Nathan Jarvis have taken some lyrics and vague ideas about tunes and turned them into the show’s musical numbers”, said Jarvis. “Likewise, the choreography that Sarah Mell has been developing for the piece is exciting and fresh and combines a myriad of influences and styles. In rehearsals, the cast has been nothing but generous and bold, willing to try just about anything.”
